Save the Date: Earth Week

Mark your calendar for Earth Week 2024! UT Dallas is celebrating the 13th annual Earth Week April 22-27. The Office of Sustainability and Office of Student Volunteerism are planning many exciting events including Earth Fair, Bee Movie screening, Pollinator events, Garden Workshops, and more. This year’s theme is “Green UTD” to celebrate all aspects of UTD sustainability. If your organization, department, or business would like to join UTD’s Earth Week, register to table at Earth Fair.

Eco Rep for Hire! Bee Campus USA Position

Are you buzzing with enthusiasm for sustainability? Join the Office of Sustainability as a paid, part-time Bee Campus USA Eco Rep starting April 2024. As a vital team member, you will lead education and outreach initiatives as they relate to honeybees on campus while gaining valuable professional development through collaboration with our dedicated team. This role leads hive inspections, installations, honey collections, and bottling events for student volunteers in partnership with the Biology Department. Learn more about the position and eligibility; the written application is due Sunday, March 17 at midnight.

Comet Honey Label Art Contest

Do you want your artwork on next year’s Comet Honey bottles? Last month’s Comet Honey sale featured the 2023 contest winner where over 250 bottles were sold in less than two hours. If you are interested in having your artwork featured on Comet Honey bottles next year, learn more and enter using the Comet Honey Label Art Contest Form. The contest is open until April 12, a winner will be announced in late April.

Become a Sustainability Steward!

Each fall and spring semester, the Office of Sustainability hosts a three-part Sustainability Stewards certification. This virtual certification, open to students, staff, and faculty, is an overview of basic sustainability principles such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, zero waste, renewable energy, climate change, sustainability on campus, and more. Register for this semester’s Sustainability Stewards training hosted from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on March 21, March 28, and April 4.
