Semester in Review: Office of Sustainability

This semester, the Office of Sustainability is excited to share our progress towards a more sustainable campus. Since September, more than 19,000 pounds of food waste has been composted, which is the equivalent of planting 885 trees or reducing 13,320 vehicle miles driven, by saving 11,705 pounds of CO2 emissions from composting the food waste instead of sending it to the landfill. Luna Farm donated 143 pounds of organic produce to the Comet Cupboard with the help of 163 hours of volunteer work. 26 faculty, staff, and students completed the Sustainability Stewards training. Wildflower seeds were sown across approximately four acres to establish additional pollinator habitat on campus. Six campus engagement events were hosted educating nearly 400 students on various principles of sustainability from biodiversity, pollinators, zero waste, and more.

Thank you to all of our campus partners and volunteers for your support and engagement!
